Prior to this appointment, he was vice president of operations at Zygo Corporation, Middletown, Conn., where he had been responsible for the automation and optics business units and the manufacturing facilities. CHARLES J. FRAGO (BARNEY) of Cromwell, Conn., has been elected president of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants, Hartford. ROBERT KRAVCHUK (BARNEY, MPA) of Bloomington, Ind., has published Politics and Society in Ukraine with Westview Press of Boulder, Colo., and this year will publish Ukrainian Political Economy with St. Martin's Press, N.Y. Robert is associate professor in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University. His research focuses on fiscal and monetary policies in formerly socialist societies in transition. PAUL MAZZACCARO (BARNEY, MPA) of Windsor, Conn., has been named by the town council of Old Town, Maine, to fill the position of city manager. Paul has previously served as town administrator of Vernon, Conn., and as project manager for the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority. PATRICIA MAZZARELLA (ENHP, MEd) of Southington, Conn., was voted principal of South End School by a unanimous vote of the Southington Board of Education in September. Patricia was a music teacher in Southington schools for 10 years and later was administrative intern. She was a principal in Hamden, Conn., and associate principal of Griswold Elementary School before accepting her present position. 1982 PENNY BARTON-ZUCKERMAN (BARNEY, MSPA) of Lebanon, Conn., has been appointed assistant professor of accounting at Quinebaug Valley Community-Technical College, Danielson, Conn. LINDA HOPE RAMMLER (ENHP, MEd) of Middlefield, Conn., is a partner in Rammler & Wood, Consultants, LLC. The firm provides services to public and private entities and to individuals on education and disability issues. Linda lives "with her four children, three cats, and husband, disability rights attorney from Austin, Texas, Mark Partin." 1984 WENDY LIVERANT (BARNEY, MBA '92) of Smyrna, Ga., has successfully passed the certified financial planner examination and is currently associated with Horizons Financial Advisors of Alpharetta, Ga., a financial planning and investment management firm. JULIE SALOVITCH-MILLER (A&S) of Freehold, N.J., is vice president at the Chase Manhattan Bank's capital markets fiduciary services department. DAVID UMLING (A&S) of Oxford, Ala., reports that he has changed his legal name from David Shaw, the name by which he was known when he was a University student, to his biological name. David searched for and found his biological family completely intact and has been adopted by his biological parents. The first reunion occurred in November 1998, and since then, he has been reunited with all seven of his biological brothers and sisters as well as over 75 other relatives. David is currently the planning director for the East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission. 1985 STEVEN ESCHBACK (BARNEY, MBA) of Farmington, Conn., has been named vice president for investor relations by RMI.NET, Inc., a national e-business and convergent communications company based in Denver, Colo. A chartered financial analyst, Steven will be the company's principal contact for the financial community. WARREN E. HARE (BARNEY) of Red Bank, N.J., recently joined the firm of Drazin and Warshaw PC as an associate attorney. He will continue practicing in the areas of litigation, bankruptcy and workouts, and real estate. Warren and his wife, Cheryl, have a son Joshua Noah (2 1/2). He writes that they now live within a half–mile of Heather Locklear's riverfront home. PAUL SHADIC (ENG) of Hebron, Conn., has completed a master of science degree program at Boston University with a major in manufacturing operations management. Paul is employed as a manufacturing specialist in the new business office at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, Conn. 1986 TERRI LAMBERT JONES (ENHP, MEd '89) and BRIAN "KEITH" JONES (BARNEY) of Lawrenceville, N.J., celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary on August 26, 1999. Terri writes that their son, Tyler Justin, is "showing definite basketball skills." The family has celebrated its first year in a new home. MARY ANN MEEHL (BARNEY, MSOB) of Killingworth, Conn., has been named manager of business services and human resources at Reflexite North America, New Britain, Conn. 1987 DAN CROCI (ART) of Goshen, Conn., has been named co-creative director by Martino & Binzer of Avon, Conn., where he has been associate creative director. He will work on all agency accounts. DAVID MARKS (BARNEY) of South Salem, N.Y., has been appointed director of property operations at Stamford-based Albert B. Ashforth, Inc. Previously an assistant property manager, David will be responsible for managing the daily property operations for the East Ridge Properties portfolio. MICHAEL ODELL (ENHP) of Torrington, Conn., recently received the 1999 Alumni Award from Connecticut Community-Technical College, Winsted, "for his demonstrated outstanding personal accomplishment and service to the community." Michael is currently employed as research associate/laboratory manager at Howard Hughes Medical Institute at Yale University. During his tenure as an immunogeneticist with the American Red Cross, Michael performed genetic studies for bone marrow transplantation and developed and presented curricula in laboratory theory and practice for University of Connecticut and Yale medical residents, fellows, and specialists. 1988 HELEN BRENA (BARNEY, MSPA) of Milford, Conn., was inducted into the Manchester (Conn.) Catholic High School Hall of Fame in October, together with other players and coaches. Helen was an All-State soccer and softball player and twice was athlete of the year during secondary school years at Trinity High School, Manchester. JULIANNE STEINBERG (BARNEY, MSOB) of Stillwell, Kan., has been appointed vice president of customer experience by Hifi.com, sister company to Cambridge SoundWorks and a wholly owned subsidiary of Creative Technology, Ltd. In her new position she will be responsible for the creative design, layout, functionality, editorial content, and production of Hifi.com's relaunched Web site, as well as management of the telesales and customer care groups. 1989 CAROLE ATTAS (A&S) of West Hartford has accepted a position as director of sales and marketing for Industrial Health Care, Windsor, Conn. She was previously director of marketing for Hartford Medical Group. SANDRA BRUGGEMANN (HCW) of Waitsfield, Vt., writes that she is a mountain ambassador at Sugarbush ski area and a tour guide at Vermont's state house in Montpelier. She bikes with a group named the Silver Streakers and enjoys membership in the Breadloaf section of the Green Mountain Club. MICHAEL MACHARY (BARNEY, MSPA) of Hartford, Conn., reports that his duties as assistant accountant general of the United Republic of Tanzania include dealing with the national debt, computerization, and public debt management. His working station is Dar es Salaam, the capital city. CHRISTOPHER PEDORELLA (A&S) of Waipahu, Hawaii, is presently a military dentist for the 25th Infantry, stationed in Hawaii until October 2001.
